Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will undergo surgery after Super Bowl 55 to repair an injury he’s played through this season.
Chiefs fans will be hoping Patrick Mahomes has a new Super Bowl ring on his finger when he’s rehabbing this offseason.
After the Super Bowl, Mahomes will undergo surgery on his toe to alleviate the turf toe he’s played through the postseason. The news was reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The nagging injury hasn’t hampered the former MVP’s play as the Chiefs are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions and Mahomes is looking to repeat as Super Bowl MVP.

Thankfully for Chiefs fans, the injury hasn’t been something that could have knocked him out of a game and left Chad Henne with the untenable task of filling Mahomes’ big shoes. He did it in a memorable fourth quarter against the Cleveland Browns in the Divisional Round when he scrambled for a near-first down and then completed the game-clinching first down on a fourth-down pass to Tyreek Hill.
"It feels a lot better...It's pretty close to 100% and I'm sure it will be by game day."

The surgery isn’t expected to require extensive rehab or keep Mahomes out of action in offseason minicamps and he’s going to be 100 percent for training camp and the upcoming season.
