Super Bowl 55: Kevin Harlan’s hilarious call of Raymond James Stadium intruder (Video)
Kevin Harlan, unsurprisingly, had the perfect call for the situation.
Tom Brady may be the Super Bowl MVP but nobody, nobody can call a field intruder like Kevin Harlan, and he proved that once again during an unusual interruption to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ blowout win.
Proceedings were brought to a temporary halt late in the fourth quarterback of Tampa’s 31-9 triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs as a man wearing a bra ran onto the field and promptly pulled down on his pants.
Thankfully, radio broadcaster Westwood One Sports had just the man for the situation, with Harlan in the booth to deliver yet another majestic play-by-play call on one of the more bizarre moments of a Super Bowl that might not live too long in the memory.
Of course, Harlan has had the benefit of substantial experience in this unique announcing field. His incredible call of a man running onto the field during the San Francisco 49ers’ Monday Night Football blowout of the Los Angeles Rams in 2016 revealed his talent for calling field invasions, which came to light again in the 2019 season.
Indeed, Harlan seamlessly transitioned to calling both play by play of the Monday Night game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys and the antics of a black cat that had made its way onto the field.
With lightning striking for a third time for Harlan this year, it is no surprise that he was perfectly prepared to handle the situation.
Many fans may be ready to quickly consign the Chiefs’ meltdown from their memories but Harlan’s shouts for the field invader to “pull his pants up and be a man” will certainly be difficult to forget.
