Patrick Mahomes uncorked a beautiful pass in the end zone for Tyreek Hill, but it hit him in the face.
Through the majority of the first quarter of Super Bowl 55, it has been a defensive affair between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But the defending Super Bowl champions almost got a score in the end zone.
On third down-and-11, quarterback Patrick Mahomes evaded pressure in the pocket and uncorked a beautiful dime pass to wide receiver Tyreek Hill and what would have been a touchdown. The problem is, the pass hit Hill right in the face.
Mahomes to Hill is normally certified gold
This is an absolutely insane play.

While the Chiefs missed out on a touchdown, they did settle for a field goal to give them the 3-0 lead early. Unfortunately for them, their lead was not safe later in the quarter.
The Buccaneers orchestrated an eight-play drive following the Harrison Butker field goal, setting them up right inside the red zone. On second-and-five, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady hit tight end Rob Gronkowski for an eight-yard touchdown. In fact, this is the very first touchdown Brady has scored in the first quarter in his 10 Super Bowl appearances, allowing Tampa Bay to take a 7-3 lead.
Just think, the game could have been tied if Mahomes and Hill had connected on this pass. Sorry Chiefs fans, we don’t mean to rub it in.
