Tom Brady is a Super Bowl MVP for the fifth time in his career.

Tom Brady can celebrate a seventh Super Bowl title after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ blowout win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Brady also added another Super Bowl MVP to his ridiculous list of career achievements.

Brady was named MVP of the Super Bowl for a staggering fifth time in a career. That is unquestionably the most of any player in NFL history after producing a flawless performance in leading the Buccaneers to glory in his first season with Tampa Bay.

He finished the game 21-of-29 for 201 passing yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Brady had plenty of help along the way

Those are not mind-blowing numbers by any stretch of the imagination and there were plenty of other strong candidates for the MVP award.

Rob Gronkowski’s performance, which saw him catch six passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns, was worthy of great acclaim. Shaq Barrett led a suffocating effort by the Buccaneers’ pass rush while Devin White and Lavonte David were each excellent from their respective linebacker positions.

But the Bucs had largely similar personnel last season and were nowhere close to making the playoffs, nevermind the Super Bowl. Brady was the player that put them over the top and his first-half dissection of a Chiefs defense that had no answers was the perfect illustration of the difference he has made.

This wasn’t Brady’s best Super Bowl performance and, given the one-sided nature of the game, it may not be his most memorable.

However, it was a game that encapsulated his value to the Buccaneers. Without Brady, the Buccaneers likely don’t even reach this point and are not in a position to go toe to toe with a powerhouse like the Chiefs.

There was no player on the field more valuable to either team than Brady was to the Bucs this season. This was a team victory from Tampa Bay, but Brady is once again an extremely worthy Super Bowl MVP.
