Aaron Rodgers rumors: Packers teammate has great news for Green Bay
By Mark Powell
Despite constant rumors Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay, a former teammate has other thoughts.
Rodgers trade rumors have persisted ever since his postgame comment took Packers fans and national media off-guard. For those who don’t recall, Rodgers suggested that he wasn’t certain he’d be back in Green Bay next season. While Rodgers is an introspective person and likes to live in the moment, such a statement following a deeply disappointing loss to a lower-seeded Buccaneers team is a cocktail for drama in the modern NFL.
Yet, Rodgers himself has since said he doesn’t anticipate a move, and the Packers front office defiantly denied any interest in trading him. And now, Rodgers’ teammates are coming out of the woodwork to deny any possibility the QB wanting out.
Marcedes Lewis doesn’t expect Rodgers to ever leave the Packers
“He is Green Bay,” Lewis said of the future Hall of Famer, per TMZ Sports. “If we want to do what we want to do, year in and year out, he has to be a part of it.”
Lewis is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason, and at 36 years old he’s in a similar position to Rodgers, nearing the end of a long, successful NFL career. Rodgers, 38, is in a unique spot, though. Having just won the NFL MVP as an advanced age proves he is still at his peak, even though his birth certificate might suggest otherwise.
Even the Packers had their doubts before the year. Green Bay drafted Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, shocking even the most influential of pundits. Now, Love must wait on the bench in similar fashion to the beginning of Rodgers’ career — being patient until an NFL legend is ready to hang up his cleats, or leave the only team he’s ever known.
