If the Packers want to make it to Super Bowl 56 they need to make the right free agent signings. Avoiding these three players is key for Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers isn’t going to play at an elite level forever. That’s why the Packers need to do everything possible to surround him with enough talent to win another Super Bowl title in 2021. Green Bay has very little margin for error in free agency.

The good news for Packers fans is that the roster is already brimming with talent. There’s a reason this team hosted the NFC Championship game in 2020. This offseason is about adding talent around the edges to the roster rather than instituting any sort of overhaul.

The trick for Green Bay will be to avoid the temptation to try to get away with half measures at their positions of need. It’s time for the Packers to go big to solve their most significant issues. None of the following three free agents can move the needle for this Super Bowl contender.

3. Marvin Jones

The Packers’ need to find a top-notch receiver capable of thriving opposite Davante Adams is obvious. Free agency is a pace where Green Bay could look to fill that need. Settling for a second-tier option like Jones would be a costly mistake.

In fairness, there are a number of teams in the NFL that can benefit from Jones’ ability to provide solid production as a No. 2 option. He’s just not a guy who can really add meaningful juice to the Packers’ offense. If Green Bay wants to add a wide receiver in free agency they should be bold and go for a legitimate superstar. Jones doesn’t fit that description.
