5 free agents the Buccaneers must sign this offseason
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to steer into the Tom Brady skid and force their way back to the Super Bowl. These free agents will help to say the least.
Could anyone in Tampa Bay ask for a better year? The Rays went to the World Series and the Lightning won the Stanley Cup. More often than not, cities are lucky to even go to a championship in a given sports season.
Instead, the Buccaneers made history for their city. Not only was Raymond James Stadium the host for Super Bowl LV, but it also was occupied by the team that plays there eight Sunday’s a year. Good thing for Tom Brady, huh?
The Buccaneers will head into the offseason as a contender for 2021. The other positive for Jason Licht’s wish list is unlike other teams, Tampa Bay is still over the cap with roughly $29 million to spend in free agency. Licht will need to now decide which stars he’ll need to bring back and which names on the open market could be affordable, yet productive options.

For anyone still wondering who is running the strings in the power struggle for Tampa Bay, look no further than the Rob Gronkowski signing. If Brady wants a player down in Raymond James, they’ll be playing in Raymond James.
Could Gronk retire again? Sure. Will he be missed? A little. He won’t be as big of a factor as the names potentially leaving at wide receiver. Both Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown will be up for contracts, with Godwin likely looking for WR.1 money.
Tampa Bay should sign Godwin to a lucrative deal. Brown though is still a quality option despite all his off-the-field antics back in 2018 and 2019. Once working with Brady, there was little distraction. And by the season’s end, Brown was emerging as his former “AB’ self with 45 catches for 483 and four scores.
The signing would be another one-year deal as Brown is coming off multiple injuries. When healthy, he and Scotty Miller combine to make one of the better “Z” receivers in the game. If it isn’t broke, no reason to fix it.
