These five free agents can be a big help for the Chicago Bears.

The 2020 season was a roller coaster ride for the Bears, who got off to a 5-1 start but backed into the playoffs at 8-8 after losing in the regular-season finale to the Green Bay Packers. A disappointing loss in the Wild Card round leaves a ton of questions for the Bears to answer and those solutions won’t be easy for GM Ryan Pace to sort out.

Chicago enters the offseason over the cap, making it difficult to execute flashy moves to upgrade areas of need on the roster. Allen Robinson is a free agent the team really needs to re-sign and quarterback is an open question with Mitchell Trubisky set to enter the free-agent market.

Let’s break down five free agents that could make a lot of sense for Chicago, beginning with guard Kelechi Osemele.

One position where the Bears can definitely afford to upgrade is at guard. James Daniels is a solid starter at left guard but Chicago will look to upgrade on the right side over Germain Ifedi.

A cost-effective solution could be Osemele, a former All-Pro who looked like he was recapturing his old form in Kansas City before tearing tendons in both knees in Week 5. If Osemele’s medicals check out this could be a bargain move for Chicago, which could use him as a stop-gap until they can find a long-term answer at right guard.
