4. Allen Robinson free agency fits – New England Patriots

Another AFC team that could make a ton of sense for Robinson is New England. Like Jacksonville, the Patriots have a boatload of salary-cap space that they can use to add a true playmaker like Robinson.

Bill Belichick tends to take a more measured approach in free agency, preferring not to overpay most players, but he has shown a tendency to splurge if there is a guy out there that can make a huge difference to the team. Stephon Gilmore’s deal has proven to be the most recent example, with the move questioned at the time only for Gilmore to turn into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

The Patriots are also in desperate need of offensive playmakers since most of Belichick’s recent draft picks and free-agent acquisitions have flopped. Julian Edelman is New England’s only reliable wide receiver but he is getting up there after playing the 2020 season at 34 years old.

Robinson would give the Patriots an elite wide receiver that can be the go-to-guy for New England’s next quarterback. The fit is certainly there but it remains to be seen if the Patriots are as desirable a fit now that Tom Brady is throwing passes in Tampa Bay.
