Who will the Chicago Bears start under center if trade talks fall through and Carson Wentz doesn’t make his way to The Windy City?

Where will Carson Wentz end up suiting up next season? That’s the question everyone wants to know. Right now, it feels like it’ll either be for the Philadelphia Eagles or the Chicago Bears. Per reports, Chicago is highly interested in trading for him.

However, what if the Bears end up whiffing on Wentz trade talks and the young signal-caller doesn’t end up making his way to town? Who will head coach Matt Nagy look to as his starter come Week 1?

The Chicago Bears could be in trouble if they don’t trade for Carson Wentz

Imagine Wentz stays in Philly. Should that happen, the Bears would have some options. They could end up bringing back Mitchell Trubisky as their starter. However, Trubisky just hasn’t lived up to his first-round hype and fans appear more than done with him running the offense.

What about another trade option? An interesting candidate could be Jacksonville Jaguars signal-caller Gardner Minshew. With the Jags and Urban Meyer holding the No. 1 pick, it’s basically a foregone conclusion that they’ll be selecting Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence.

Minshew may not be the sexiest of quarterback options, but he’s been able to show some flashes of brilliance in his two years in the league. Who knows, maybe he could help revive the Chicago offense and put some points on the board after the defense makes their usual stops.

For Jacksonville, they could add some more picks in exchange for Minshew, who clearly isn’t in the organization’s long-term plans. Regardless, Chicago needs to get something done in the coming months at quarterback. Whether Wentz or Minshew, trading for a new signer-caller to replace Trubisky feels like the best move.
