Russell Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys could be a real possibility. . .in 2022.

Russell Wilson may not get dealt by the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2021 NFL season, but there is a chance he could go to a team like the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2022 campaign.

The idea behind this Wilson’s cap hit for 2022 at $26 million would be less than what the Cowboys would pay Dak Prescott if he were to be franchise tagged for a third time. Prescott may very well get tagged again for the second year in a row. A third year would be incredibly pricey, as well as destroy any good faith he would have left with the Cowboys organization. It is why it can happen.

Cowboys fans should not wish upon a star for Russell Wilson to come save them

Even approaching his mid-30s, Wilson would still be the better starting quarterback talent over Prescott. A hypothetical trade between both parties would serve as a nice change of scenery for the star quarterbacks. Wilson could play for the most popular team in the United States, while Prescott could star in relative isolation up in the Pacific Northwest. It is still a pipe dream, though.

This would really come down to if the Seahawks were willing to keep up with the Joneses. Yes, Jerry and company would love a player like Wilson, but how sure are we Seattle ownership would want to part ways with the latest Walter Payton Man of the Year award recipient? For that reason, it is hard to see Seattle part ways with such a pillar of the community, even if he does want out.

A trade to Dallas involving Wilson is not happening now, but could happen in a year or so maybe.
