He’s likely not leaving Dallas, but quarterback Dak Prescott makes sense for many teams.

Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott’s career regular-season resume reads 69 games and starts. He played the 2020 season under the franchise tag and unfortunately for the former 2016 fourth-round draft choice from Mississippi State, his season was cut short by injury for the first time in his brief career.

The numbers are impressive. He’s connected on 66.0 percent of his throws for 17,634 yards and more than twice as many touchdown passes (106) as interceptions (40). He’s also run for 1,314 yards and 24 scores while overcoming 146 sacks. He’s also 18 of his 34 fumbles but for the most part, he’s done a decent job protecting the football.

Prescott played under the franchise tag in 2020. And this year, he figures to be back with the organization be it via a new contract or to be tagged again (via NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport). But stranger things have happened during an NFL offseason. In any case, here are five teams where the addition of this five-year pro would be an ideal addition.

5. Indianapolis Colts

First things first. It worth reminding some out there that astute general manager Chris Ballard used a fourth-round pick on University of Washington quarterback Jacob Eason last April. While he didn’t see the field in 2020, there’s still hope he could emerge as a major find for the club.

With the retirement of Philip Rivers (see Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune) and free agency a possibility for Jacoby Brissett, the Colts are definitely in the market for a new field general.

Hence, it will be interesting to see what kind of move Ballard makes. He’s been known to hit home runs in the draft but hasn’t been shy when it comes to free agency or trades. A year ago, the Colts gave up a first-round pick to get 49ers’ tackles DeForest Buckner, who earned All-Pro honors in his first season with the franchise.
