The forwards payed a friendly game of rock-paper-scissors to see who would leave the ice first prior to Friday’s Boston Bruins-New York Rangers game.

Back on Wednesday, the Boston Bruins defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 in an intense overtime thriller. Two days later, the teams are back at it for their second game in Madison Square Garden.

Following pre-game warmups, both squads exited to their respective locker rooms, except Bruins winger Brad Marchand and Rangers center Mika Zibanejad. The two engaged in a standoff to see who would budge first and leave the ice. After both maintained their ground, they decided to settle it with a game of rock-paper-scissors. The winner of the friendly contest was Zibanejad, and Marchand obliged by leaving the ice for good.

Rangers get a win before the game

In their previous meeting, Marchand actually won the game for the Bruins in overtime. After a failed two-on-one breakaway by the Rangers, Marchand broke away on his own, thanks to a great pass from defenseman Charlie McAvoy, and deked the puck past goaltender Alexander Georgiev to earn a crucial two points in the East Division standings.

Zibanejad, on the other hand, has gone two straight games without a point. The last time the Rangers center ended up on the stat-sheet was back on New York’s 4-2 win over the Washington Capitals with an assist. Overall, Zibanejad has recorded one goal and two assists through 12 regular-season games prior to Friday night’s game.

Zibanejad breaking out of his slump is more crucial than ever, as star winger Artemi Panarin is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Even though Zibanejad might be in a slump, at least he can call himself the last man standing during Friday’s pre-game warmups.
