Lakers: NBA warns LeBron James not to flop, finally

The NBA warned Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James to stop flopping.

On Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers extended their winning streak to seven games after defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 115-105. But the Lakers’ latest win is being overshadowed by a Oscar-worthy flop by star LeBron James.

During the second quarter of game, James looked to go for an offensive rebound after a failed three-point shot by Anthony Davis. As he stood between Grizzlies guards Grayson Allen and Dillon Brooks, and proceeded to throw his arms back and fall to the court, acting as though he was forcefully hit. After falling down, the referees assessed a loose ball foul to Brooks!

On Saturday, the NBA officially issued a warning to James for violating the anti-flopping rule.

James’ flop earns the NBA’s attention

The Grizzlies’ broadcast team was audibly disgusted as soon as James fell to the hardwood and the on-court official blew the whistle for the foul. With the Lakers down 54-41, James earned two easy points at the charity stripe to pull them within 11 points of tying. Of course, since the Lakers are a powerhouse in the Western Conference, they were able to push through the Grizzlies to get their seventh-straight win.

In 34 minutes, James contributed 34 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and two steals while shooting 9-for-15 from the field and 1-for-4 from the three-point line in the win.

The Lakers sure were happy that they did not have to compete in overtime like they did in their previous three games against the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder (twice) respectively. They will look to extend the winning streak to eight games on Sunday, when they face the Denver Nuggets.

The NBA sent the warning to James that if he does so for the second time, he will be handed a $5,000 fine, per the league’s official rules.
