Scouting Report. Michigan. Nico Collins. player. Pick Analysis. Wide receiver. 159. 124

Wide receiver isn’t a position of intense need for the Chiefs, but they will be short a guy on the outside if Sammy Watkins departs via free agency. That makes Collins an intriguing target for Kansas City in Round 5.

Collins uses his 6-foot-4 frame to go up and make catches over the top of opposing defenders. He also possesses deceptive speed for a player with his size. It’s easy to see why he will appeal to both Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. He’s a big-play threat waiting to happen at the NFL level.

Indiana. player. 124. Linebacker. Micah McFadden. 223. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Chiefs missed Wille Gay’s presence at linebacker during the Super Bowl. They clearly can use an upgrade in terms of depth on the second level. McFadden isn’t going to blossom into a star at the next level, but the combination of his speed and productivity in college makes him a nice lottery ticket in Round 7.

Again, Kansas City might elect to take a bigger swing here, but McFadden has a strong chance of making the roster based on his special teams acumen. He’s got just enough athleticism to stick as a reserve linebacker on a high-level team like the Chiefs.
