Dak Prescott’s brother claps back at ‘rumor’ Cowboys could release him

Nope, it doesn’t look like the Dallas Cowboys will be cutting ties with Dak Prescott anytime soon. 

There will always be rumors in the NFL offseason. However, the drama surrounding the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott take the cake.

Now, a report from 105.3 The Fan’s Mike Bacsik suggests that Cowboys could go a different route altogether, rather than bringing back Prescott for yet another season.

Dallas could be willing to sign Prescott to a second franchise tag. However, if he’s unable to start the season under center at AT&T Stadium, Bacsik believes that the Cowboys might cut him in June.

That seems like a far-fetched idea. More to that, Prescott’s brother, Tad, would like a word with Bacsik.

Prescott is fully healthy to play, correct?

Prescott’s injury resurfaced after it was reported that the Cowboys starting quarterback had a second surgery on his ankle earlier this offseason. Prescott suffered a significant injury in Week 5 against the Giants that sidelined him for the remainder of the season in a contract year.

Prior to his injury, Prescott led the NFL in passing yards with 1,856, including nine touchdowns and four interceptions.

“I think there’s a possibility they release Dak Prescott in June,” Bacsik said. “I know something that nobody else knows and it’s very tough to keep my mouth shut on this. I’m just telling you, I know something, and the Cowboys know it too, and Dak knows it, too.”

Per Prescott’s bother, Dak is no longer in a walking boot. He’s not on crutches and also still is a free agent. If Dallas cannot come to terms with the 27-year-old, they could allow him to leave instead of offering a second tag that would be worth over $38 million in 2021.

There’s always something going on in Dallas, but the Cowboys quarterback concerns are more about money than injury. Expect Prescott to be on a roster, barring something unforeseen.
