Patrick Mahomes social media game has been nonexistent the past few days, and for good reason.

Mahomes is recovering from offseason surgery to his foot, in which he suffered turf toe in the lead-up to Super Bowl 55. The superhuman quarterback came up well short of his lofty goals for the 2020-21 season, and now must face the consequences of an offseason in preparation for the unknown.

Mahomes isn’t going anywhere, of course. But Brett Veach will make necessary changes to better his team. It’s an absolute must moving forward, and something the Chiefs will have a hard time doing given their current salary cap situation. Per most outlets, the Chiefs are somewhere near $20 million in the red, which makes dreams of retaining the majority of their talent and adding a guy like JJ Watt a pipe dream.

Mahomes is ready for the offseason, and the challenges it brings with it

If there’s anything scarier than a normal Patrick Mahomes, it’s an angry, motivated Patrick Mahomes, and that’s exactly what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have unleashed upon the football world.

Kansas City wasn’t at full strength for Super Bowl 55, making any indictment of their long-term gameplan under Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy unfair. The Chiefs know exactly what they’re doing, but perhaps building some legitimate depth at the line of scrimmage would benefit them. Injuries happen, especially for players who are constantly in vulnerable positions, and offensive linemen know this more than anyone.

Kansas City’s best motive will be to build through the NFL Draft. This is where they’ll find the most talent for a relatively cheap asking price. Adding veterans to Mahomes’ arsenal will be far tougher unless they’re willing to sign at a discount, which we have seen in the past.
