Linebacker. Kentucky. Jamin Davis. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 45. 105. player

Both Joseph Jones and Jeremiah Attaouchu are ticketed for free agency which leaves the Broncos in need of linebacker depth. Davis is still a relatively raw prospect, but he’s got the speed to grow into a quality starter if things break right during his professional career.

It would be a mistake for Denver to draft him with the intention of handing him major snaps right away. He struggled to get off blocks at times for Kentucky and that issue is only going to get exacerbated against NFL competition.

The plus side to Davis as a player is that he has the speed to run down opposing ball carriers even when he gets out of position. The key for the Broncos’ coaching staff will be to help him transition that speed into something that allows him to produce negative plays as opposed to simply covering up his mistakes.

His long-term home likely lies as an inside linebacker in Denver’s 3-4 set. If he can find a way to become a plus in coverage then his skyrocket could value. At worst, he’ll help the Broncos on special teams during his rookie season.
