J.J. Watt is still looking for a new team after the Houston Texans released him last week and is apparently considering the Browns.

The Houston Texans and 10-year veteran J.J. Watt mutually agreed to part ways last week. NFL teams looking to bolster their pass rush with a future Hall of Famer are definitely working behind the scenes to make a deal happen sooner than later.

While dozens of teams have expressed interest in Watt, there seems to be mutual interest between him and the Cleveland Browns.

J.J. Watt is reportedly seriously considering signing with the Cleveland Browns

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year may be thinking about taking his talents to Cleveland because they have “a lot of what he wants” a source told cleveland.com.

He’s likely looking for money and the chance to contend for a Super Bowl which given his addition, the Brown certainly could do. They were among the last eight teams remaining, losing to the defending Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs, 22-17, in the AFC Divisionals. Watt, on the other hand, finished 4-12 with the seemingly incompetent Texans organization and is now looking to provide value to a winning team.

As for the monetary prerequisite, he’s likely looking to be paid his worth, which at 32-years-old is still pretty high. Watt was due to make $17.5 million in 2021 and the Browns could get him in that range. They are currently 10th in the NFL with about $21.7 million in available space.

Many speculated that he should join forces with his brother T.J. in Pittsburgh but the Steelers won’t likely be able to afford him.

We’ll see where the Browns end up in the Watt sweepstakes but its clear that they aren’t as far away from Super Bowl contention as they had been in the past.
