Titans sound ready to cut 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson

The Tennessee Titans and general manager Jon Robinson have clearly grown increasingly frustrated with offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson. 

Things just haven’t gone according to plan for the Tennessee Titans and 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson. When the team selected the former Georgia standout with the No. 29 overall pick, the hope was that he’d be able to make an immediate impact in his first year.

The opposite was the case, as Wilson only ended up playing four snaps. In addition to that, he was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list twice and was also placed on the NFI list in December. Now, Titans general manager Jon Robinson has made it clear to the lineman that he needs to start taking things seriously if he wants to stay in town.

“We put him on the reserve/non-football injury list and haven’t spoken to him since,” Robinson said via ESPN. “He’s going to have to make a determination on whether he wants to do what it takes to play pro football. That will be on him.

“I know what the expectation level is here, and it’s no different than any other player on the football team. We have a certain standard that we want players to prepare and perform at professionally, and as people, and there’s a lot of work to be done there.”

As you can tell from Robinson’s quotes above, he’s expecting much more than what he’s seen from Wilson. When a team uses a first-round pick on you, they expect you to be hungry and ready to help out from the start.

Instead, Wilson barely played and was also arrested back in September on DUI charges. It goes without saying, but he’s shown an incredible amount of immaturity to start off his Titans career. Wilson needs to wake up and change his mentality as soon as possible, otherwise, he may have to start looking for a new team.
