2021 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks dominate the Top 10, but defense controls the board
By Brad Weiss
The Dallas Cowboys hold the No. 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and with the selection, they should look to address their issues on the defensive side of the ball. One of the areas where they will need to upgrade this off-season is a linebacker, and luckily for them, there are a couple of solid options in the first round this April.
One of those options is Notre Dame rover Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who has everything you look for in an NFL linebacker. He’s an elite tackler, is solid in coverage, and plays with an incredibly high football IQ, making him a perfect fit for America’s team.
The New York Giants have issues on both sides of the ball and will be looking to upgrade at multiple position groups. Quarterback Daniel James still has not proven that he could be a legitimate franchise guy at the next level, making the 2021 NFL season a huge one for him.
With pick number 11 overall, the New York Giants should go out and get Jones a weapon, and they do so by drafting Jaylen Waddle. The playmaker from Alabama was supposed to be the top wide receiver on the roster this past season, and he doesn’t fall too far in the first round this April.
It remains to be seen what the San Francisco 49ers plan to do with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, a player who recently led them to a Super Bowl. If they do decide to move on from Jimmy G, it will likely be in a trade, so I do not expect them to bring in a quarterback here at pick number 12.
With the selection, the 49ers should look to upgrade at cornerback, especially with Richard Sherman’s time in San Francisco likely done. Caleb Farley is the second-best quarterback in the draft class and would be allowed to start right away for the 49ers.
