There appears to be growing momentum in favor of the Green Bay Packers to end up signing star defensive end J.J. Watt.

From the moment it was announced that the Houston Texans would be parting ways with standout pass-rusher J.J. Watt, Packers fans everywhere have been hoping that No. 99 would be making his way to Lambeau Field. So, is Green Bay in the running?

If you ask ESPN’s Dan Graziano, not only are the Packers in the hunt here, but they might just be the favorites to end up signing him this offseason. It feels like a Packers-Steelers battle, per Graziano, but he’s indeed giving the edge to Green Bay.

The Green Bay Packers very well could end up inking J.J. Watt in the near future

As you might imagine, countless organizations are hoping to bring Watt to town. However, the Packers might be in the driver’s seat to get something done here.

You already know they have quite the recruiting pitch, as Watt could come in and lead the defense and then watch Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams do brilliant things on offense.

At the same time, it’s easy to understand why Watt would want to go to Pittsburgh as well. The Steelers are expected to once again to be extremely competitive in the AFC next year, and Watt’s younger brother T.J. Watt is coming off a sensational year for the team. Imagine if the two were to suit up for the same defense? It’d be incredible to watch them each and every Sunday.

Playing with his brother is certainly an intriguing possibility, but the former Texans superstar won’t let that be what ultimately makes or breaks his decision. Everyone is waiting to see where J.J. Watt suits up next, but don’t be surprised if you see the Packers make an earth-shattering announcement in the near future.
