John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats are trying to make a late run at landing 5-star guard Trevor Keels.

While it looked like the Kentucky Wildcats were done recruiting for the 2021 class, John Calipari isn’t done bringing in elite talent for next season just yet. Out of Virginia, 5-star shooting guard Trevor Keels remains unsigned and is looking for a place to play his college ball.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Calipari and Kentucky sent out a late offer to the 6-foot-5, 210-pounder recently. Ranked the No. 2 shooting guard in the country, Keels has picked up nearly 20 scholarships throughout his recruitment. Could he end up making his way to Lexington in the near future?

Prior to receiving his offer from Kentucky, Keels had reportedly been down to Duke, Villanova and Virginia. Over the last week, more and more buzz has continued to come in for the Blue Devils. However, Calipari is ready to shoot his shot and see if this late tender can convince Keels to play at the next level in the SEC.

Kentucky already has had an impressive haul for 2021, receiving the National Letters of Intent from 5-star power forward Daimion Collins and 4-star recruits Bryce Hopkins and Nolan Hickman. On top of that, power forward Oscar Tshiebwe is transferring from West Virginia to Kentucky.

As things stand, the Wildcats hold the No. 4 class in the country and No. 1 in the SEC. If the team ends up landing Keels, it would put the cherry on top of what’s been an unreal year recruiting-wise for Calipari and his coaching staff. Stay tuned to see if Kentucky can beat out Duke, Villanova and Virginia for the prized recruit.
