Bulls: Zach LaVine joins Michael Jordan in exclusive scoring club

Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine is having a career season and his torrid scoring stretch has put him in exclusive company with Michael Jordan.

Zach LaVine has been on a tear this year and should make the All-Star team for his efforts. One of the league’s leading scorers with an average of 28.5 points per game this season, LaVine has seen his scoring outbursts reach even higher over the last 10 games.

LaVine’s hot stretch has seen him average 31 points per game over that stretch that puts him in rarified air in Bulls history. The last member of the Bulls to average more than 30 points per game over a 10-game span is none other than Michael Jordan.

When you’re doing things that only Jordan has done in franchise history, you’re doing something incredibly special. Chicago Bulls fans have taken notice of LaVine’s career year and fans around the NBA should as well. His efforts should see him selected to the NBA All-Star Game and the trade rumors that have been attached to him ever since he was traded to the Bulls should cease to exist.

Zach LaVine is on a Michael Jordan scoring streak

The streak actually extends beyond 10 games for LaVine who has averaged 30.3 points per game over the last 11 games. Dating back to Jan. 25, LaVine has scored 30, 26, 21, 24, 26, 39, 35, 46, 26, 30 and 37 points. With a pair of 40-point games this season, LaVine is getting close to reaching a career-high and his first 50-point game.

LaVine has a career-high of 49 points scored in the win vs. the Charlotte Hornets in 2019 when he hit 13 3-pointers, including the game-winner to give the Bulls a 116-115 win.

While it’s still early in the season, LaVine has the Bulls on the verge of a playoff spot with a 12-15 record. The Bulls are one game out of the No. 8 seed and just two games back from the No. 4 seed.

There’s plenty of time left for LaVine and the Bulls to come together and go on a run, especially with a young roster around him that’s still learning under first-year coach Billy Donovan.

If LaVine keeps putting up 30 points per game, that should be enough to keep the Bulls in the playoff hunt all season.
