Brett Gardner may not be leaving the New York Yankees after all in his free agency.
Outfielder Brett Gardner has spent his entire 13-year big league career with the New York Yankees.
Gardner has been a free agent throughout the winter and has not inked a deal with anyone ahead of the 2021 MLB season. However, it seems as though he will be back in pinstripes this spring, as he is close to a deal to return to the Bronx Bombers. This is the only franchise he has ever known since being a third-round pick out of the College of Charleston in the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft.

Brett Gardner will provide veteran leadership to help the Yankees win a ring
While Gardner is no longer the same player he was earlier in his career, he can provide the Yankees with some veteran leadership in the outfield, in the dugout and in the clubhouse. Though it has been over a decade since the Yankees won a World Series, Gardner was part of the 2009 team from a generation ago. He might know what it takes to get the Yankees back on top again.
Overall, with pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training, it was only a matter of time before a player like Gardner signed on with a big league club. Since he has never played for anybody else, it makes sense that he would make it a priority to re-up with the Yankees. While nothing is official, it would be shocking at this point for Gardner to play for anybody else in his big league career.
Look for Gardner to help the Yankees contend for a World Series title this upcoming October.
