Chipper Jones posts a picture of his No. 10 jersey as he returns to the Atlanta Braves’ dugout.
Chipper Jones put together a hall-of-fame career rocking the No. 10 for the Atlanta Braves.
Nearly a decade after the legendary third baseman hung up the spikes, Jones has returned to the only organization he has ever known. The iconic switch hitter has left the ESPN broadcast booth to serve as a hitting consultant for the big-league ball club. Having him back in the dugout is huge for the Braves’ chances to win a pennant and get to the World Series. He will wear the No. 10 again.
You cannot put a price on the leadership Chipper Jones brings to Braves baseball
From 1993 to 2012, Jones was the noted position player in Atlanta. He amassed nearly 500 career home runs and 3,000 career hits his impressive run with the Braves. Having him back in the organization in some capacity will be tremendous for every hitter he works with. His presence may be the difference to get Atlanta back to the Fall Classic for the time since he won NL MVP in 1999.
Fortunately for the Braves, they already have an excellent hitting coach in Kevin Seitzer. He has been instrumental in helping this team boast one of the best offenses in baseball. However, it will be the little things that Jones can provide to his beloved ball club. Look for stars like Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman, Marcell Ozuna and Dansby Swanson to learn a ton from Jones.
Seeing Jones wear No. 10 once again puts a smile on everyone’s face in Braves Country.
