Former Nebraska quarterback Luke McCaffrey has announced his decision to transfer to Louisville to continue his career.

Luke McCaffrey, former Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback, has announced his intention to transfer to the University of Louisville. McCaffrey entered the transfer portal last month and looks to have finally come to a decision.

The redshirt sophomore took to Twitter to announce the news.

Last year, McCaffrey shared reps with Adrian Martinez. He finished the year with 466 pass yards and a touchdown but threw six interceptions. He ran for 364 extra yards and three touchdowns on 65 carries.

McCaffrey is the brother of Carolina Panthers star Christian McCaffrey and the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, who is the head coach at Northern Colorado. Dylan McCaffrey, Luke and Christian’s brother, and the former Michigan quarterback transferred to Northern Colorado to play for his father earlier this offseason.

Luke McCaffrey will compete for starting job at Louisville

McCaffrey, a former four-star recruit and talented dual-threat, will look to compete for the starting job at Louisville. McCaffrey will be eligible immediately and will arrive on campus in the summer to compete at camp in the fall. Louisville now has four quarterbacks on scholarship including Malik Cunningham, Evan Conley and freshman T.J. Lewis.

Cunningham threw for 2,617 yards and 20 touchdowns last season and is likely to lead the rest in competition. Of the places McCaffrey was expected to land, Louisville wasn’t exactly top of mind. We’ll see how soon McCaffrey sees the field for the Cardinals and how he adapts to Scott Satterfield’s offense.
