Oregon State. Hamilcar Rashed Jr. player. Scouting Report. Edge. 72. 50. Pick Analysis

The value will be present in Round 3 for Detroit to gamble on a speedy edge rusher. Rashed is far from the most polished prospect available in this year’s class, but he’s got plus quickness on the outside. Landing both Rashed and Basham in back-to-back rounds would give the Lions a much-needed talent boost on the edge.

Expecting Rashed to come in and make an immediate impact probably isn’t a wise plan. He’s got nice athletic gifts, but his lack of quality technique really limited his collegiate production at Oregon State. It’s going to take him some time to understand the intricacies of rushing the passer at the pro level.

The juice should be worth the squeeze in time though. His outstanding motor gives him a chance to make an impact on all three downs in the long-term. Rashed’s ability to chase down running backs from the backside provided some of his most impressive plays last season.

Rashed will give the Lions a more varied pass rush sooner rather than later which is all the franchise can reasonably ask for in a Round 3 pick. He doesn’t possess All-Pro potential, but he can develop into an above-average starter if things break right.
