The Dolphins are almost definitely going to take a wide receiver at some point in this draft. It’s a huge position of weakness. They have talent, but it’s never truly come together. Nobody on the team was able to break 800 yards receiving last season. DeVante Parker is still a major injury risk. Yet, despite where he finds himself on the pay scale, the Dolphins likely won’t give up on him just yet.

Preston Williams came into the season with some expectations to be a good second option for a much-improved Dolphins team. He ended the season with less than 300 yards as he once again dealt with injuries and inconsistent play. Jakeem Grant seems to be ahead of him on the depth chart already, and he won’t be given a third season to prove himself in Miami.

The Dolphins are obviously being tied to Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith. He played with Tagovailoa in 2019, and that is where he started his breakout. Sometimes analysts project players based on random facts that tie them together, but this one makes a lot of sense.

The Dolphins desperately need a wide receiver, and Smith is the best we’ve seen in a long time. He’s the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. It makes sense, even at third overall.
