Scouting Report. West. 2.. player. 135. Pick Analysis. AL. Houston Astros

The Houston Astros almost made the World Series this past season when everyone counted them out. But a Game 7 victory by the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALCS prevented that from happening. This upcoming season could be the final one the Astros can contend for the World Series, as they are expected to see Carlos Correa, Justin Verlander, Zack Greinke and Lance McCullers become free agents at the end of the year. It is time for them to capitalize on the proverbial window being open in 2021, and that move could be Cespedes.

Houston’s outfield took a massive hit when George Springer walked to the open market and left with a six-year, $150 million contract by the Toronto Blue Jays. The Astros did save themselves by preventing Michael Brantley from joining him by giving the veteran a two-year, $32 million deal.

The outfield for Houston entering this upcoming season looks to be Brantley paired alongside Myles Straw and Kyle Tucker. While it is a relatively solid, the Astros need to go above and beyond to become contenders in the American League.

Joining the Astros would be ideal for Cespedes. He can earn some starts in the outfield, slot in as designated hitter and join a lethal batting lineup. This would be a win-win for both player and team.
