Youngstown State coach appears to take cheap shot at UNI player on sideline (Video)
By John Buhler
This Youngstown State football coach takes one of the cheapest shots on the sidelines you will ever see.
Northern Iowa wide receiver Quan Hampton should be furious this Youngstown State football coach did not even get reprimanded for this egregious hit he doled out on him on the sidelines.
Hampton caught a ball on a crossing pattern before heading out of bounds to the Youngstown State Penguins’ sidelines. As he was decelerating, this coach lowered his shoulder and stuck out his leg, knocking Hampton to the ground. Hampton pointed at the coach in front of the official to explain what he did. Sadly, Hampton’s pleas fell on deaf ears and the game continued on as is.
Youngstown State should be embarrassed after what transpired Saturday
Football is a game of controlled violence. However, uncontrolled violence should not be tolerated, especially from a coach on the sidelines. It is not if, but when, you will get hurt playing football. Nobody is out there on the battlefield trying to intentionally injure the opposition. You simply cannot tolerate this type of behavior from anyone on or near the field of play. What a travesty!
Hampton’s Panthers shut out the Penguins 21-0 on Saturday afternoon, but this is the play from the FCS game we will all be talking about. There was nothing unintentional about what this coach did. He did this 100 percent on purpose, trying to hurt Hampton for all the world to see. Youngstown State needs to do the right thing and terminate this man from his post immediately.
You cannot trip a student-athlete in a college football game and expect to get away with it.
