Dejounte Murray forces OT vs. Nets with the most unlikely buzzer-beater (Video)
Dejounte Murray hit one of the unlikeliest game-tying buzzer-beaters you’ll ever see.
Sometimes, you just need a little bit of luck on your side. Dejounte Murray had plenty of it on Monday night.
In their home game against the Brooklyn Nets, the San Antonio Spurs trailed by two points with less than a minute to play, and even worse, their opponent had the ball. Kyrie Irving masterfully maneuvered through the defense, splitting defenders off the dribble to get to the rim for a point-blank layup.
Fortunately for the Spurs, he missed it, Murray grabbed the rebound, and the fast break was on.
James Harden stood still near mid-court, nearly making a great play on the ball as Murray strode down the court. The contact threw Murray off-balance, and with the clock winding down, he had to reach down, gather the ball back up and launch a desperation shot from inside the 3-point arc before the buzzer went off.
Miraculously, it went in.

Dejounte Murray’s clutch bucket forced OT against the Nets
While the Nets ran away with the game in overtime, it was a valiant, last-ditch effort from San Antonio to even force the extra period in the first place. Brooklyn actually held a 10-point lead over the Spurs with 2:12 to play before the home team closed the game on a rapid 10-0 run. Murray finished his night with 19 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds on 8-of-15 shooting.
The Nets ultimately won 124-113 by outscoring San Antonio 16-5 in overtime, but even if Murray’s incredible buzzer-beater didn’t result in the W, it’s still a play worth remembering simply for how unlikely it was.
