New York Knicks just had their first winning month in nearly three years
The New York Knicks are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference and had their first winning month in almost three years.
The New York Knicks are rolling ladies and gentlemen. Don’t look now, but the Knicks are currently 18-17 and in the fourth spot in the East. The team is young but additions of veterans like Austin Rivers and Derrick Rose have done a lot to help the team try to get over the hump. They haven’t shot the ball well but the breakout year that Julius Randle is having has made the Knicks one of the most pleasant surprises in the NBA this season.
Randle led tall scorers in the game with 25 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. RJ Barrett is also progressing nicely. He finished with 21 points on the night.
Tom Thibodeau’s team is certainly finding their groove and their win on Sunday vs. the Detroit Pistons solidified a stat for them that they hadn’t achieved in years.
February was the first winning month for the Knicks in almost three years
New York has won seven of their last nine games after beating Detroit last night. The win pushed them over .500 and they closed out the month of February with a 9-5 record.
That monthly winning record was the first time the Knicks had done that since 2017.
The culture of New York Knicks basketball has definitely changed. Whether or not they figure out how to keep this newfound energy going remains to be seen but this has to be encouraging for New York fans. They definitely have the potential to continue to surprise a lot of NBA fans given the struggles of the Eastern Conference this year. Are they finally ready to make the leap to the next level as an organization?
