8. Georgia Bulldogs

The headlines come from the hedges surrounding Sanford Stadium, and they sure are cool, but the Georgia Bulldogs football experience is so much more than that. It all starts with the music scene. The 40 Watt Club is one of the best indie music venues in the country. It’s a must to catch a night of music when visiting the university.

The bar scene at UGA is insane. It’s right across the street from campus and is home to over 80 different bars. That’s a lot of choices for students and alumni alike. So whatever you may be looking for (cheap drinks, good food, karaoke, dancing, or anything in between), Athens has it.

Once fans wake up on Saturday, it’s time to prepare for kickoff. Tailgating is spread across different parts of the campus.

The in-game traditions are just amazing. Freshmen are taught at orientation how to “call for the dawgs”. They literally make students wait to enter the dining halls until they sing the song at a sufficient pitch. Most of the song is just barking, though. One of the coolest traditions takes place outside Sanford Stadium. The ringing of the chapel bell is a right of passage. Students line up after Georgia wins to literally ring the bell at the campus chapel.
