The Seahawks must fortify the offensive line in front of Russell Wilson this offseason, which is likely among the organization’s top NFL Draft priorities

The Seattle Seahawks of myriad needs that need addressing on both sides of the football, especially if the organization plans to keep quarterback Russell Wilson, which makes rebuilding the offensive line a top priority.

As Wilson’s name continues to swirl in trade rumors, there is little reason for the Seahawks to trade the MVP caliber quarterback, which makes reloading the talent along both lines a priority in the ongoing arms-race in the NFC West.

J.J. Watt’s arrival along the Arizona Cardinals defensive line reinforces the Seahawks’ dire need to fortify the offensive line in front of Wilson, after it allowed 47 sacks, which was actually an improvement on its performance in recent years.

Barring any blockbuster trade between now and late April, the Seahawks will have just four picks, and won’t go on the clock until the bottom of the second-round of the 2021 NFL Draft, which will put the onus on general manager John Schneider to mine some diamonds in the rough.

Here’s a look at our latest Seattle Seahawks 7-round mock draft projection:

819. . OT. Fighting Irish . Liam Eichenberg. 56. player

Size: 6-foot-6, 305 pounds

Eichenberg has the size and skill-set to be a plug-and-play NFL offensive tackle, which is exactly what the Seahawks need.

Over the past two seasons, Eichenberg did not allow a sack, thanks in large part to his ability to anchor in his sets against oncoming bull-rushers and the fact that he is an above-average hand-figther.

Given Eichenberg’s dominance as a road-grader in South Bend, he might be tailor-made for the Seahawks’ gap-heavy run-based scheme and the prototypical tackle to match Wilson’s mobility.
