Was Juice filmed in New York City?

Yo, you got the juice now man.” For a film that maybe doesn’t get enough love, it’s a story that’s timely and teaches the audience a lot about growing up in the hood. The early ‘90s was a tough, raw, and gritty time period for New Yorkers. The city was still transitioning from the ‘80s, and it took time for people to adjust. However, the hip hop scene that started in the ‘70s, into the ‘80s, was now a huge contributor to the identity of the real New York. It was as if it was finally accepted to be a part of the city.

Having 2Pac alone tells you that there is a seriousness to this film, and you must pay attention. Other actors like Omar Epps, Samuel L. Jackson, hip hop duo EPMD, and Queen Latifah, also helped boost the authenticity of this story. Most of the film takes place in Harlem and the Upper West Side. It tells a story of a group of friends, and how they encounter real-life issues and how eventually those issues can lead to mistrusting your own crew.

Remember the high school in which they all ran out of? That’s A. Philip Randolph High School, located on West 135th Street. It’s right next to City College.
