Was Spider-Man filmed in New York City?

It’s just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man over here. Nothing serious. In this modern-day version of what Spider-Man would look like, the film directors were right to stick to the story’s roots.

With Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) being a New York kid who eventually finds his true powers, much of the movie was filmed right here in New York. Aunt May’s house is located alongside 69th Road in Forest Hills, Queens. The scene where  Peter is running to catch the bus is located on 44th Street along Queens Boulevard. The Moondance Diner where the red-headed Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) was located in SoHo along Grand Street. Norman Osborn’s (Willem Dafoe) mansion is located in the Tudor City section of upper-east Manhattan.

There are other places like the New York Public Library and sections of Forest Hills, Queens that are visited. Interestingly enough, other scenes were filmed in L.A.—like the museum where Peter suffers his spider bite.
