Was A Bronx Tale filmed in New York City?
This tale doesn’t actually take place in The Bronx, but it still packs plenty of punches on various life occurrences. It was Robert de Niro’s directorial debut and it left the audience wanting more. It focuses mainly on the development of a dysfunctional yet necessary relationship between a young boy and a feared mobster.
The film takes place mostly along 30th Avenue between 42nd and 47th Street, in Astoria, Queens. The high school Calogero (Lillo Brancato) attends is William C. Bryant High School. The church that’s across the street from Calogero is St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. As mentioned, the film mostly takes part in Astoria, but there were a couple of scenes shot in Brooklyn and on City Island.
