Top 30 Movies Filmed in New York City

Was Dog Day Afternoon filmed in New York City?
We’ve seen many great films with Al Pacino as the lead actor. However, this one has to be up there with The Godfather and Scarface. This movie is based on a true story about the life of bank robbers.
The majority of the movie was filmed in Prospect Park West, Brooklyn—alongside 10th Street in Flatbush. The bank where Sonny (Pacino) and his co-star Sal (John Cazale) stick up the joint was actually a garage purposely made to look like a bank. It’s where Sonny and Sal, you know, hold their hostages afloat and make their demands.
The area has obviously changed over the years, but the bank (garage) block location is actually now an apartment building. It’s not far from Prospect Park itself and only about a block from the 15th Street-Prospect Park subway station.
