Perhaps you already know where it took place, as the famous Wonder Wheel in Coney Island makes an appearance. This is one of the top movies to ever come out of New York. Everything about the film is NYC—the subway, Central Park, the gangs, the cops, the language, etc. It’s arguable that this movie was a bit ahead of its time in the sense that there wasn’t anything like this movie out then.

The Warriors were a gang based out of Coney Island, Brooklyn. The majority of the storyline takes you on a ride through the tough and gritty streets of late ‘70s New York. While it’s a fictional story, a lot of what is told and happening throughout the movie are things that were going on at that time. The graffiti, the crime, the hunger for respect, these are all traits that still carry to this day in parts of the world.
