Was Kids filmed in New York City?
If there was ever an influential film that may have been overlooked, maybe Kids would be up there. The tale of a group of delinquent teenagers living in a ā90s NYC is as raw it gets. While the movie does give the audience a great moral, it takes everyone on a roller coaster ride before arriving there.
The setting takes place in various parts of New York, including SoHo, the Upper East Side, Washington Square Park, and parts of the LES (Lower East Side). The pool the group of friends hops the fence to hang out after hours still stands as the Carmine Street Pool.
This movie parallels Juice (1992) in that it too concentrates on what the struggles, mindsets, and adventurous views the ā90s teenage life were about. Itās not a happy-ending tale, but it does give the audience a real-life perspectiveāsomething that is not seen in many movies. Oh, yeah by the way this was also Rosario Dawsonās film debut.
