This offseason has been eventful for the Clemson football program but Amari Rodgers took a moment to pay homage to the late, great Kobe Bryant.

Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff have been out on the recruiting trail in an attempt to get the Tigers back into the NCAA football championship game. Their 2020 season ended prematurely after they failed to win the championship in back-to-back years, coming up short to LSU two seasons ago and then getting blown out by Ohio State in this year’s semifinals.

While those guys are out getting ready for next season, former players are getting ready to take their games to the next level. COVID-19 has changes how the NFL is approaching the draft. One of the main changes is that there will be no central NFL Scouting Combine. We saw Trevor Lawrence have his own pro-day and other athletes are also trying to get creative with the way they showcase their skills. Clemson will hold its pro day on March 11.

Clemson receiver Amari Rodgers honors Kobe Bryant with bench press

Clemson receiver Amari Rodgers is preparing himself for the NFL draft in a really cool way. Rodgers led Clemson in catches in his first college game in 2017 and then became a full-time starter as a sophomore for the Tigers’ national championship team in 2018. He, unfortunately, had to take time off with an ACL injury in the spring of 2019.

He showed off his skills at a combine-style event in Florida this week, where he did 24 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press on Thursday.

Watch as Rodgers completes his set of 24 to honor the late Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant continues to be a pillar in the sports world and is still inspiring the next generation of athletes. It’s awesome to see Rodgers honor him in this way.
