Baylor basketball blooks to pick up its second straight win against Cade Cunningham and Oklahoma State basketball.

One of the big storylines in college basketball this week was concern over the state of Baylor basketball. A lengthy COVID pause had done a number on the Bears, who were sluggish in a win over Iowa State before losing to Kansas on Saturday, raising questions about whether there was a possibility they could fall off the top line in the NCAA Tournament.

Head coach Scott Drew said after the loss to the Jayhawks that he felt the pause contributed significantly to the Bears’ rusty form in those two games. Baylor recovered nicely in a key road date against West Virginia on Tuesday, winning in overtime to secure their first Big 12 title.

Davion Mitchell scored the go-ahead points for the Bears in overtime as part of a 20-point effort. The win also helped the Bears stabilize ahead of a tricky two-game homestand beginning with tonight’s matchup against Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys have come on strong down the stretch, sweeping a home-and-home version of Bedlam with Oklahoma to rocket inside the Top 25 polls. Freshman sensation Cade Cunningham absolutely dominated the Sooners over the two-game series, scoring a combined 55 points to help Oklahoma State improve to 10-6 in Big 12 play.

This matchup should prove to be a key tuneup for both teams ahead of the Big 12 Tournament, where they will be playing for seeding in the NCAA Tournament. These teams already met once this season, with Baylor cruising to an 81-66 win in Stillwater, so it will be interesting to see how Oklahoma State changes things up for the rematch.
