Former Bears OL Kyle Long hints at ‘massive splash’ coming soon
By John Buhler
Kyle Long believes the Chicago Bears are about to make a big move very soon this offseason.
Former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long has a feeling something really awesome is about to happen in the Windy City and fans should get excited about it. While it was part-cryptic and part-speculative, his message was 100 percent intriguing. What is the former Chicago standout suggesting his beloved Bears to do?
Long sent out a series of tweets on Thursday, suggesting the Bears front office will make something magical happen. Naturally, people are speculating this will have to do with getting a franchise quarterback. With guys like Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson potentially on the move, perhaps the Bears are a potential trade target for either of those superstar signal-callers?
Kyle Long knows the Bears cannot run it back with their same quarterbacks
While the Bears are not expected to bring back former No. 2 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky on a second contract, there is a possibility they roll into 2021 with journeyman Nick Foles as their presumptive Week 1 starter. Though Foles has had his moments under center in this league, nearly all of them happened in Philadelphia Eagles uniform. The Bears need to make a move now.
Long spent his entire seven-year NFL career with the Bears. The three-time Pro Bowler knows that the quickest way head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace can get back into good graces with the fanbase is to land a star quarterback this offseason. While the Bears could draft one out of college, Chicago is more than ready to fall in love with a proven NFL product.
If the Bears do land a star quarterback this offseason, oh, that is a complete game-changer.
