Oklahoma football legend Bob Stoops will join FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff beginning in this fall.

With Urban Meyer leaving the analyst booth to become the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, former Oklahoma football head coach Bob Stoops will replace him on the set of FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff.

He joins Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, Brady Quinn and Rob Stone who return to the college football studio show that rivals ESPN’s College GameDay.

From 1999-2016, Stoops amassed a 190-49 record in Norman, leading the Oklahoma Sooners to 10 Big 12 Championships and a 2000 national title. Stoops was recently elected into the College Football Hall of Fame. While filling Meyer’s shoes upon his departure to the NFL would be tough for most people, Stoops is the perfect man for the job and FOX could not be more excited.

“Coach Stoops’ Hall-of-Fame resume speaks for itself, and that success, along with his passion for college football, makes him the perfect fit for Big Noon Kickoff, said Brad Zager, Executive Vice President, Head of Production & Operations, FOX Sports.

“His impact on the sport is still felt in Oklahoma’s continued success and the multiple former assistants who are now head coaches all over the country. We are excited to add someone who mentored multiple top draft picks and Heisman winners, coached in multiple championship games and has gone head-to-head against some of today’s greatest active coaches.”

“I’m looking forward to joining such an incredibly talented team on FOX Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff,” Stoops said. “Over the past two seasons, FOX has assembled an insightful, engaging and entertaining pregame show that has become destination viewing for today’s college football fan, and I’m excited to be part of it beginning this fall.”

Bob Stoops’ coaching background and personality make him a great fit for TV

While Stoops is best known for his days leading the Sooners, he has served or played for three coaching icons in his college football life. He played defensive back for the legendary Hayden Fry at Iowa, following Fry disciple Bill Snyder to Kansas State to make his first big splash as a coach. Prior to arriving at Oklahoma, Stoops famously was Steve Spurrier’s defensive coordinator at Florida.

What Meyer brought to the Big Noon Kickoff set was ample college coaching experience across multiple conferences. Meyer had previously led Ohio State, Florida, Utah and Bowling Green before coming to FOX. Stoops will do the same with connections to Oklahoma, Florida, Kansas State and Iowa, as well as Kentucky where his younger brother Mark Stoops lead the Wildcats program.

FOX did about as good of a job filling Meyer’s void by hiring another terrific personality in Stoops.
