25 former college football players destined to be future head coaches

15. Will and Drew Swinney, former Clemson receivers
Much like their teammate Jake Venables, it would not be a stretch if brothers Will and Drew Swinney joined the family business and became coaches. They have the ultimate learning tree to sit under. Not only is their dad one of the best coaches in college football, but he is also a national championship-winning coach.
The Swinney-Clemson formula has worked thus far. The senior Swinney has taken the Tigers from a marginal ACC program to one of the nation’s elite. Both Swinney’s sons are currently part of the program and are getting a first-hand look at how to build a sustainable winning culture.
Few teams in college football developed their program the way Clemson did. Swinney and his staff identified key recruits, developed others and hit on most of their key recruits. The success of the program on a national scale led to players from all over the country wanting to play for Clemson.
It does not matter if they decide to coach offense or defense since the Tigers have some of the best coaches and coordinators in the country. Though many coordinators stay at Clemson for extended periods, those that have left would be willing to put either of the Swinney brothers under their wing.
If either Will or Drew inherited any of their father’s natural charisma and charm, they will have no issue being as successful as their father.
