2. Sign Riley Reiff

Reiff has been a perfectly solid left tackle throughout his career, including the last four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. But after he agreed to a late restructure last offseason in lieu of being cut, the team apparently came back with a similar plan this offseason. Reiff apparently stonewalled it, probably to his credit, and the Vikings cut him this week to clear over $11 million in cap space.

Reiff will be an interesting case to watch in free agency. Beyond Trent Williams, there’s a case to be made for him as the second-best left tackle available. What that means in terms of length and money for a contract is certainly unclear, but that he could play either tackle spot adds to his value in a certain light.

As the Chiefs mine the market for offensive tackles, Reiff should stand out some. If things took shape that way, he may even be able to play guard (likely left) and fortify another spot along Kansas City’s offensive line.
