Vegas odds hint at Bears-Russell Wilson trade yet again
By John Buhler
If Russell Wilson plays for another team besides the Seattle Seahawks this upcoming NFL season, the odds indicate that other club will be the Chicago Bears.
The Chicago Bears are the likeliest trade destination for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, according to the latest betting odds.
Wilson has spent his entire nine-year NFL career in Seattle uniform. He has won a Super Bowl and been to another. However, he has grown frustrated with head coach Pete Carroll’s insistency on having a ground-centric offense. The dude just wants to cook! While he would welcome a trade at this point of his career, how cool is he with going to one of the coldest major cities in the U.S.?
The Chicago Bears edge out the New York Jets as Russell Wilson’s next NFL team
While the Seahawks come in at a staggeringly low -200 for where Wilson will take his first snap in 2021, the Bears are right there at +200 with the New York Jets still in the mix at +250. No other team has better than +1000 odds to have Wilson as their Week 1 starting quarterback for 2021. Here is why Wilson is infinitely more likely to play for the Bears over Gang Green if he is traded.
New York has the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. While the Jets will not be able to draft Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson, they will have their pick of the litter when it comes to Justin Fields, Trey Lance and Zach Wilson. In short, it will be expensive to trade for Wilson and the Jets can get an upgrade at quarterback over Sam Darnold by simply waiting until the draft arrives.
If Wilson is traded to the Bears, he and his family better invest in some nice winter coats.
