Big Ten Tournament: Michigan basketball vs. Maryland live stream, odds, channel, prediction
Michigan basketball is set to begin its run at the Big Ten Tournament with a matchup against the Maryland Terrapins.
The Big Ten Tournament is an interesting one for the Michigan Wolverines, who have taken care of pretty much everything they need to ahead of the NCAA Tournament. A strong regular-season performance has helped the Wolverines essentially lock up a No. 1 seed entering March Madness, but there are some concerns over Michigan’s play in the last week.
Getting blown out by Illinois, which played without star guard Ayo Dosunmu, at home was one thing but getting beaten by a very bubbly Michigan State team to end the regular season raised some red flags. The Wolverines also saw starting guard Eli Brooks injure his ankle in the loss to the Spartans, a big issue since Michigan struggled mightily without him in East Lansing.
It doesn’t look like Brooks will be available in the conference tournament, which means Juwan Howard will have to find a way to win games without him to set the Wolverines up for the possibility of playing without Brooks for at least part of the NCAA Tournament. That makes today’s game against Maryland a very intriguing one for Michigan.
The Terrapins are a gritty bunch that officially punched their ticket to the dance by knocking off Michigan State yesterday. Maryland took advantage of 18 Spartans turnovers and got to the free-throw line early and often to cruise to an easy win.
Michigan swept the season series during the regular season, winning both games by double-figures. Maryland has improved significantly since those meetings and Brooks’s absence could make this one tighter than people think.
