SEC Tournament: Alabama basketball vs. Tennessee live stream, odds, channel, prediction
Alabama basketball is one win away from the SEC Tournament final and can get there with a win over Tennessee today.
The top half of the SEC Tournament bracket has seen the chalk hold form. Alabama and Tennessee were the top two seeds in the top half and they have taken care of business in Nashville to set up a semifinal showdown today.
The Crimson Tide have had a breakthrough season in Nate Oats’ second year, winning the SEC regular-season title and making a clear-cut case for a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. There were signs of slippage in Alabama’s play as the pressure of more meaningful games mounted but the Crimson Tide showed significant progress with a demolition of Mississippi State yesterday.
The quarterfinal matchup was essentially over after 20 minutes with Alabama jumping out to a 47-19 lead in a game the Crimson Tide would go on to win 85-48. The performance also saw a tremendous effort from Alabama’s signature defense, which held the Bulldogs to 29 percent shooting and a 1-for-19 performance from the three-point line.
Defense should be the order of the day in Nashville as Alabama faces off with another rugged defensive team in Tennessee. The Volunteers’ quarterfinal matchup with Florida was defined by an ugly incident where Florida’s Omar Payne was ejected for a dirty elbow to the face of John Fulkerson but the contest itself was never in doubt as Tennessee cruised to a 78-66 victory.
These two teams met back on Jan. 2 in Knoxville with Alabama’s eight-point win setting the tune for the course of the SEC season. Expect another slugfest with a trip to the tournament final on the line.
